WARM POOLS™
SUPPLEMENTAL SOLAR POOL HEATING SYSTEM
Warm Pools™ is a supplemental hydronic radiant pool heating system that simultaneously warms your pool and cools your deck.
Warm Pools™ represents efficient, supplemental pool heating.
HOW DOES WARM POOLS™ WORK?
The Warm Pools™ system is entirely automatic. A sensor in the concrete deck senses the warmth of the deck. It then sends an electrical signal to a differential temperature controller. The controller evaluates the difference between the temperature of the deck and the temperature of the water in the pool. When the temperature in the deck is warmer than the pool water, the circulator pump is turned on. This pump draws cool water from the deep end of the pool and moves it through the loops of polyethylene tubing within the warm deck. During circulation, the cool pool water absorbs the radiant heat from the deck. The warmed pool water is then returned back into the shallow end of the pool. An added benefit of Warm Pools™ is that the cool water from the deep end of the pool helps to cool the warm deck.
The operation of your system is comparable to conventional solar systems, with minor differences. Because it is installed in concrete, which takes time to heat and cool, it has an inherent lag time associated with start up and shut down. Efficiency is comparable to conventional unglazed solar systems, and in some cases, such as windy locations, may be superior since the collector is not up high in the wind stream.
Warm Pools™ is an environmentally-conscious choice that lowers your fuel cost as well as your carbon footprint. However, it must be understood that this is a supplemental pool heating system, not a replacement for a pool heating system.
The system is functional from late spring to early fall. It will not warm the pool during winter. The system is capable of raising the temperature level of the pool water as much as 10° (but more typically 3° to 6°) over 5 to 10 consecutive days with sun exposure. A pool cover used nightly helps to achieve maximum heating potential and avoid losing any heat gathered during the day.
